Hard Hats Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Twenty years ago, Our Saviour’s Hard Hat ministry began with men who pitched in to help out as needed on the “Honey-do” chores.  Dennis Sackreiter organized the group to meet every week and called them “Hard Hats.” The founding members were Roy Anderson, Gary Larson, Jim Nelson, Darrell Pearson, Jerry Ryding, Dennis Sackreiter, and Bob Schwartz.  Their dedication to service has grown into the group of men we now know who have devoted themselves to numerous projects that have enhanced our church environment.

The six acres of property are maintained through all seasons by this group. Other major projects have included roofing the ministry center, changing all light fixtures to use LED lights—both indoors and in the parking lots—installing flooring, and putting down pavers in outdoor spaces including the columbarium, to name a few.

A very special project was financing, overseeing, equipping, and participating in the building of the large garage for use as storage space and a maintenance shop. The Hard Hats also work to raise funds for projects and have received generous personal donations.

New participants are always welcome! The only requirement is a desire to help. One does not need to commit to every week; you can participate as your schedule allows. Hard Hats meet every Wednesday from 8:00 am-12:00 pm. Coffee, treats and laughter included!
Our sincere thanks to this dedicated service group.
