Adult Forum: Navigating the Work of Welcome with Global Refuge
March 22, 9:30-10:15AM, open office area
For 86 years, Global Refuge, also known as Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, has welcomed Immigrants and Refugees to our country. It is one way we as Lutherans answered God’s call to welcome the stranger. We will hear from Rev. David Wangaard who works in congregation relations with Global Refuge. He will talk about the history and present work of Global Refuge, as well as how the current policies and enforcement actions have impacted immigrant communities.
Rev. David Wangaard has served the church for over 42 years. He has served parishes in Alaska, northern MN, St Paul, Minneapolis, and Baltimore. Pastor David has served on the staff at Lutheran World Relief and presently Global Refuge. He is a graduate of St. Olaf and Luther Seminary and is married to the Rev. Susan Tjornehoj.
You are encouraged to attend this forum as we learn together how God’s call to welcome the stranger continues to guide us today.
