Confirmation for Grades 6-8

As parents bring their children to baptism, they are entrusted to help their child grow in the Christian faith and promise: “… to live with them among God’s faithful people, bring them to the word of God and the holy supper, teach them the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed and the Ten Commandments, place in their hands the holy scriptures, and nurture them in faith and prayer, so that your children may learn to trust God, proclaim Christ through word and deed, care for others and the world God made, and work for justice and peace.”

Confirmation is a major component of the Youth Ministry Program at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. It is a three-year program, beginning in 6th grade and completed in the fall of 9th grade. The goal of the program is to allow young Christian people the privilege of getting better acquainted with Jesus Christ and his teachings. Our intention is to do this in a setting that will not only challenge their minds and hearts, but also surround them with pastors, adult leaders and fellow students who can help them continue to live their Christian lives in earnest.
