Coming in May

The Jesus and Java evening book group will meet Mon., May 12, 7:00 p.m., at the OSLC Ministry Center. The May book is The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. Questions? Call Jesus and Java Coordinator Jo Rohady at 763-434-3203.

The Faith and Fiction afternoon book group will meet Tues., May 13, 1:30 p.m., at the home of Myrt Anderson. Maps are available in the F&F mail box in the church office. The May book is Neither Wolf nor Dog by Kent Nerburn. Questions? Call F&F Coordinator Donna Nelson at 763-434-3423.

Cleanup day at the OSLC Chapel is planned for Sat., May 17, at 9:00 a.m. Bring your rakes, gloves, and cleaning supplies and get into the spirit of spring cleaning. The church will be cleaned inside and out.

The Celebration Choir will present Sermon in Song on Sun., May 18, during all three worship services. Using the most expressive choral pieces from the past nine months, they will give shape to a rather unique worship opportunity. All the elements of a Lutheran worship setting will be present: Invocation, Kyrie, Hymn of Praise, Scripture, Message, Hymn of the Day, Creed, Prayers, Communion, etc. However, these elements of worship will be fleshed out with choral anthems, congregational singing, the bell choirs, and other guest musicians from the congregation. Since love is lord of heav'n and earth, how can I keep from singing?

Lunch Out at 1:30 - You have a lunch date with this fun group who will be meeting on Wed., May 21, at Wintergreen's Golf and Grill in Isanti. All are welcome! Please sign up on the Small Group board in the Rotunda so reservations can be made.

Take Note

Minnesota March Food Share Drive Was a Great Success! Thank you to Our Saviour's congregation for helping to make the Minnesota March Food Share Drive a great success! Our congregation donated 2,119 lbs. of food and $1,302 in cash! Our Saviour's, along with other churches and organizations in our community, gave a combined total of 48,893 lbs. of food and money to NACE Food Shelf. We are so very grateful for your generous and caring hearts! From the NACE Food Shelf

Just what is Pentecost Sunday about? Well, quite a bit: Read one perspective in the editorial section of Metro Lutheran this month, the editor argues that Pentecost is the time to be courageous, obvious, and a little "out there." The May issue of Metro Lutheran is available at the Reception Desk.

Job Opportunity

Phase II Construction Manager
A growing, vibrant congregation of 3000 rostered members, Our Saviour's
Lutheran Church in East Bethel, MN, seeks an individual to guide us through our second phase of construction. As we work on the 20,000 square foot addition, we hope to utilize as much talent from within our own congregation as possible. Responsibilities will include working with the building committee, architecture firm, sub-contractors, and, to some extent, volunteers. Requirements: must be able to coordinate numerous on-going tasks; motivate and inspire sub-contractors and volunteers; accommodate the fiscal plan developed by the building committee; ensure job site safety; and coordinate manpower, subcontractors and materials between office and jobsite. Experience in commercial-grade building construction is a plus; membership at Our Saviour's would be a bonus, but is not a requirement. Note: we will also be looking for subcontractors to help with phase II after we find a construction manager.
